Latest news from Generate

Dear Generate Members and Supporters,

Well it’s been a very productive few months within the Generate Network and you will be pleased to know that the Generate Network Business Plan is coming along nicely, thanks to the input of a number of our very generous supporters; Andrew Leslie (CEO NZ Recreation), Kevin O’Connor (Deputy Director-General - Science and Technical - Department of Conservation) David Clarke (CEO Parks Forum). The feedback received to date has been very constructive and we will soon be getting to work on the final draft of this Plan. We will be in touch again as this plan nears completion.

A few further updates:
•         We are getting closer to our online forum going live…we’ll be in touch with further details as soon as we have that lined up.
•         Based on feedback from the Hui held early last year, we are about to embark on addressing a ‘major issue’ for the industry – this will be a challenge as we reveal the task at hand! We will be in touch with an update on this process.
•         You may also notice that we have a brand new logo thanks to the Parks Forum design team.
•         We also now have our own email addresses!
•         Heaps of other exciting things are happening around the place including training opportunities and informal get togethers of likeminded professionals. Check out our facebook page and webpage and for details as these are regularly updated.
•         Personal Profiles of Generate members are going to be uploaded on our webpage regularly so that members can see what others are doing.
•         Generate will have a presence at both the Parks Forum Conference to be held in Adelaide in May and the National NZRA Conference to be held in Auckland in November.

We are constantly looking for interesting articles to celebrate so please be in touch if you or someone you know has recently celebrated success in your industry! We want to hear about it!

Finally,  we hope you are all enjoying the last of the summer sun! Catch up with you all sometime soon!

Regards,

Generate Steering Committee

Dear Generate Network Members and Supporters,

On behalf of the Steering Group, we hope that you have had a great year and have been excelling in all the great things you do. The Steering Group remain active and have been meeting regularly since the hui in April to bring the Network alive. Ali Thompson has done a great job over the past six months chairing Generate, and Michele Frey has now taken over this role due to Ali’s time restraints.

At our recent teleconference we decided to take a moment to reflect on progress to date…the outcome being the following:

The Good Stuff
•  Finalising ‘Generate’s Purpose – “A network of young innovative people providing a collective voice, evoking change and supporting development opportunities for those working in the environmental and recreation sector
•  33 people involved across NZ and Australia
•  Steering Group meetings held on a monthly basis
•  Terms of Reference finalised
•  Draft Business Plan in place
•  Website set up (http://www.parksforum.org/cms/pages/Generate-Network.html)
•  Facebook page
•  Wellington and Auckland regular catch up groups
•  Wide reaching Australasian network! Great new working relationships over New Zealand and Australia.
•  Parks Forum, DOC and NZRA support
•  NZRA Conference November 2011 - key note speaker (you can find the Generate Presentation on our website)

We now have the Generate Website up and running, and are in the throes of finalising the on line forum and business plan. So, if you have any interesting articles, events, facts that you would like to share on the Generate Website, please contact Anna Crawford at crawforda@npdc.govt.nz .

We will be in touch with another update for you very soon!

Regards,

Generate Steering Group
