Agency Statistics

The initial stage of implementing the Parks Industry Performance Framework included the collection and collation of base data about Parks Forum member organisations through the Agency Statistics survey.

The annual questionnaire collects data on 15 different quantitative measures that pertain to corporate management of parks. Parameters include the type of population served; the number of parks and area managed; staff numbers; and the annual operational budget. Collation of the data identified organisational clusters that parallel the differences identified between agency types in the “Great Parks Network Benchmarks 2007 – An analysis of membership management performance” report.

This information assists Parks Forum to understand the diversity of the industry and its member organisations. From the information we can identify organisational clusters and performance based on size, budget and staff numbers. Over time the measures should monitor trends, facilitate review of industry and individual agency data and encourage robust discussion on the ‘state of the industry’.

Parks Forum is able to use the data collected to promote the value of parks to government and the broader community, promoting greater investment and support of the industry and support submissions for research, philanthropic and government grants as well as corporate investment.
