Rob Small has held professional roles with the New Zealand Recreation Association, the International Federation of Parks and Recreation Administration and the New Zealand Institute of Parks and Recreation.  He has been awarded the major awards of the New Zealand Parks professional organisations through the Award of Merit and the Ian Galloway Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Parks and Recreation Industry in New Zealand.
